舞者与耳蜗植入 A professional Dancer in USA shares her experince with cochlear implant

Dr. Hua Zhang,

 

I have been dancing all my life and wore hearing AIDS until they no longer worked for me. I started dancing with hearing AIDS when i was five.   when I was about 12 years old  my remaining hearing disappeared so I had the cochlear implant on my right ear.北京同仁医院耳鼻咽喉头颈外科张华

 

 Getting the Cochlear implant helped me hear the music better and hear sounds that I have never heard before. Yes , I had the fear of getting the implant because I thought it would effect my dancing but it only made it better!  I used doubled side tape to help stick the implant to the back of my ear and it has worked tremendously well. I buy toupee tape made for wigs. Its the best kind of tape to buy that has doubled sided tape. The Cochlear implant helped me hear the little sounds that I did not know were there when I wore hearing AIDS. 

 

To let you know a little about my dancing career I began in classes when I was five.  I was selected to be on a competitive team when I was seven and have been dancing seriously since then.  I grew up competiting in dance both as a individual solo and in multiple team dances . I attended numerous dance conventions and have performed on stages, football fields, and recently in the Super Bowl.

 

For the past two years I was a member of the world famous Rangerettes who have performed around the world.  

 

Now I attend Chapman University and major in Dance.   This is an elite dance program which has over 400 individuals audition each year for the prgram.  They selected approx 35 -40 indivudals each year to be in the program based on dance auditions.

 

I would be glad to answer specific questions about the cochlear and dancing .  Please let me know.   

 

I love to dance so I feel very fortuante to have the cochlear and be a stronger dancer because of it

No! I do not mind at all! and Happy New year too! so glad I got to help encourage your patients know how great the Cochlear Implant! After I retire from dancing, I hope to have my left side done too.
